Federal financial aid is available to those who qualify, and our Financial Aid Office is committed to helping students understand their options and successfully navigate the application process.

Accreditation

Washington Barber College is proud to maintain accreditation through the Council on Occupational Education (COE).

How to Apply

  1. 1. Complete the FAFSA at StudentAid.gov
  2. 2. Use School Code 041831
  3. 3. Submit all requested documentation
  4. 4. Review your aid offer
  5. 5. Complete loan counseling and MPN, if borrowing loans

Financial Aid Options

  • 1. Federal Pell Grant
    A need-based grant that does not require repayment.
  • 2. Federal Direct Subsidized Loan
    A loan for eligible students with demonstrated financial need.
  • 3. Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan
    A loan available regardless of financial need. Interest begins accruing when funds are disbursed.
  • 4. Parent PLUS Loan
    A federal loan available to eligible parents of dependent students.
  • 5. Additional Funding Sources
    Students may also explore private loans, scholarships, veterans' benefits, vocational rehabilitation, employer tuition assistance, and payment arrangements.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for federal student aid, students generally must be admitted into an eligible program, complete the FAFSA, meet citizenship requirements, maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress, and not be in default on federal student loans or owe a federal grant overpayment.

Verification

Some students may be selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education. If selected, additional documentation must be submitted before financial aid can be finalized or disbursed.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

Students receiving federal aid must maintain Washington Barber College's Satisfactory Academic Progress standards, including academic performance, attendance, and maximum timeframe requirements.

SAP Policy

Students Have the Right To:
  • Receive information about available aid programs
  • Understand how eligibility is determined
  • Review the terms and conditions of aid
  • Appeal certain financial aid decisions when permitted
Students Are Responsible For:
  • Providing accurate information
  • Submitting documents on time
  • Maintaining SAP
  • Reading all financial aid documents
  • Repaying student loans according to loan terms
Loan Counseling & Master Promissory Note

Students borrowing Federal Direct Loans must complete:

  • Entrance Counseling
  • Master Promissory Note
  • Exit Counseling before graduation or withdrawal

Complete Loan Requirements

Return of Title IV Funds

Students who withdraw before completing their payment period may have their federal aid recalculated. Unearned aid may be returned to the U.S. Department of Education, and the student may owe a balance to the institution.

Special Circumstances

Students experiencing a significant financial change should contact the Financial Aid Office to discuss available options. Documentation may be required.
